A note to those of you who have been to this portion of our website before. I have taken down both my personal story and also any possible identifying information from the stories that people have shared because we have been receiving insults, but also death threats. I urge you to continue because I believe the more adversity we face only solidifies the need for change! Stay strong, and stay healthy!

~BIRTH TRAUMA: JENSEN V. MUNSON MEDICAL CENTER ET AL. On October 22, 2013, Sommers Schwartz attorneys Richard Groffsky, Matthew Curtis and Michelle Trent filed a complaint in Grand Traverse County, Michigan Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants committed medical malpractice during labor and delivery. The plaintiffs, a minor child born with significant birth injuries and her parents, claim that the obstetrician and hospital were negligent in their handling of the child’s birth. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants were aware that the baby was not receiving sufficient oxygen, had a rapid heartbeat, and exhibited other signs of distress, but failed to perform a cesarean delivery in a timely manner or properly care for the baby in utero. As a result of the alleged malpractice, the child was born with severe neurological deficits and delays, and will require ongoing care and assistance with normal daily activities for the rest of her life. - See more at: http://www.sommerspc.com/en/accomplishments/Recently-Filed-Cases.aspx#sthash.S9k3QovL.dpuf
Here are a couple recent "hate" emails that we have received over the past three days we've been up:
~You people all deserve to die and you should. UR noting but gold diggers and drug addicts looking for a payout.
~Munson is a great hospital. I hope you all die you welfare scum.
This is how an ongoing conversation ended:
You know I don't believe my double bachelors degrees in human services and education I earned when I was 24 mean I am too young to understand a bunch of whiners and people looking for a paycheck! If you knew how to read instead of trying to speak for me, I had immediate surgery and my surgeon checked on me throughout the night and following days. Maybe he just liked my pleasant personality and the fact I didn't treat him like a third world slave?
Don't bother writing back. I find you to be a less than worthy person who is just looking to blame the world for your troubles. So you don't get to become the wife of a wealthy, popular doctor? You won't get to be on his TV talk show like Dr. Phil's wife. Widows get lots of positive attention too.
Our response: Nothing else matters besides this. Read your last sentence (name removed for senders privacy). I don't care who you are or what you go through, that defines who you are. You should be ashamed of yourself.
So no matter what hatred and adversity you go through on your journey to receiving the healthcare you need and medical treatment you deserve, please know that you are not alone. We would like to hear those stories as well. Judgment and condemnation that you've received, not just from the hospital or it's affiliates because it's not just about that, but also the struggles that you've gone through with family, friends, or strangers. Stay Strong and Stay Healthy.
